The Mont-Blanc massif, its glaciers, its walls. A familiar landscape? But what is a landscape? Perhaps, above all, a gaze, an experience of bodies, knowledge, and words. In three chapters and three locations, three moments of "dialogues – field readings" follow one another. Choosing to bring forth speech from this high mountain, Camille Llobet engages in a dialogue between the informed and oriented knowledge of a geomorphologist and high mountain guides to question sensitive perceptions, to highlight the singularity of a passage here, a texture there, and the thawing of permafrost elsewhere. From bodies to words, from images to sounds, we find ourselves not so much in front of, but with and within the landscape. A complex and fragile landscape in transition, which she meticulously films as an organic, rumbling body. Scrutinizing surfaces, listening for echoes, attentive to the slightest traces—which is what the title signifies. Magnificent shots unfold a gaze caught between the beauty of snowy slopes or raw mineral mass, their tactile, vibrant presence, and the jolts of a brutal transformation due to climate change. Cracking rocks, untimely melting... These sudden upheavals challenge acquired knowledge and demand a new form of attention and listening to this changing environment to read its signs. Attention and listening to which Camille Llobet invites us.
